HOW TO USE and TRANSITION to MATCHA Clumping Cat Litter - Vet directed

How to Use Matcha Clumping Cat Litter (and Why It’s a Game-Changer)
Welcome to the clean side. As a vet, foster carer, and lifelong cat mum, I created this Matcha tofu litter to make life easier for you, your cat, and the planet. Here’s how it works, how to use it, and how to transition your cat with confidence.
🌱 What Is Matcha Tofu Litter? And How Does It Work?
Matcha tofu litter is a plant-based, low-dust, high-performance alternative to traditional clay, crystal or paper litters. Made from renewable soy fibres and green tea leaves, it forms tight clumps that lock in odour and reduce mess - without the waste or weight.
-
Clumps fast so nothing sticks to the tray
- Zero smell, Zero waste, Zero Mess
-
Flushable in small amounts (just not the poos!)
-
Lightweight, compostable (even the packaging), and low tracking
- No Dust
-
Safe for cats with sensitive paws or respiratory issues
💩 How to Use Matcha Litter: The Easy Daily Routine
- Fill the tray: Add 5 - 6cm of fresh Matcha tofu litter to a clean tray.
- Scoop daily: Remove clumps every day. You can flush 1 - 2 clumps at a time or compost them.
🚫 Never flush cat poo - always dispose of it in the bin. - Top up: Add more litter as needed to maintain clumping performance.
- Clean out monthly: Fully empty, wash, and refill the tray every 4 weeks.
One 4.7kg bag lasts up to 8 weeks for 1 cat if maintained properly.
🐈⬛ How to Transition Your Cat (4 - 6 Week Plan)
Cats are creatures of habit - so a slow and steady approach helps them adjust but each cat is different, so work at their pace (it's always on their terms! 😅).
Week 1: Sprinkle
Start with a sprinkle of the Matcha litter onto the new litter so that they are familiar with the smell and something very subtle being mixed in.
Week 2: Mix it in 25%
25% Matcha litter on top + 75% current litter . Scoop daily like normal.
Week 3 : Half and half
Move to a 50/50 mix and maintain regular scooping. Keep the tray in the same spot.
Week 4-5 : Full transition
Shift to 75% Matcha, then fully transition by the end of week 5-6 with a nice new, clean tray of MATCHA.
Praise your cat and give them time to adjust.
Pro tip: If you have space for two trays, offer them side by side during the transition- let your cat choose!
💚 Why It’s Worth the Switch
Matcha litter helps reduce smell, mess, and landfill waste - while making daily life easier and safer for your cat. It’s lighter to carry, better for paws, and so much kinder to the planet.
