What you can't see
in your cat's litter.
Most conventional cat litters contain ingredients that wouldn't be allowed in your skincare. Here's what's actually in that bag and why it matters.

your cat feels it too.
When I first looked into what most cat litters were actually made of, I was genuinely shocked. We'd never accept these ingredients in our cat's food or bedding, yet somehow they ended up in the one product cats touch every single day.
of supermarket cat litters in Australia contain at least one ingredient the EU has classified as a respiratory irritant.
Crystalline silica dust
Found in nearly all clay-based litters. When inhaled over time, silica is a known Group 1 carcinogen by the WHO. Cats, who groom themselves constantly, ingest it through their fur.
Sodium bentonite (the "clumping" agent)
Expands up to 15× its size when wet. If swallowed during grooming, especially in kittens, it can cause intestinal blockages and respiratory irritation.
Synthetic fragrances & perfumes
That "fresh linen" smell? Usually a cocktail of undisclosed chemicals masking, not neutralising odour. Cats have 14× more scent receptors than humans. Imagine living in that.
